Athlete training overhead strength at the Inner Athlete facility in Yorkshire

Performance testing · Yorkshire

Measurewhatmatters.

In-person athlete performance testing in Yorkshire that turns physical capacity into useful coaching decisions. Know where you stand, what to prioritise and what to train next.

Data with a purpose

Testing should change what you do next.

A test is only useful when it answers a real training question. Inner Athlete uses in-person testing to establish a baseline, identify the qualities limiting performance and give the next block of work a clearer direction.

The result is more than a score or a printout. Your numbers are interpreted against your sport, training history and current goals. That context helps separate what is interesting from what is actionable—and prevents training time being spent on the wrong priority.

INSCYD and aerobic testing

Understand the engine.

INSCYD and aerobic testing can help describe the systems behind endurance and repeated high-intensity work. For athletes whose sport demands sustained output, repeated efforts or controlled conditioning, that information can sharpen how conditioning is prescribed and progressed.

Testing is selected because it is relevant to the athlete—not because more metrics automatically create better coaching. The session begins with the performance question and works backwards to the appropriate assessment.

When to test

Create a baseline. Re-test with purpose.

Testing is most valuable when there is time to act on the result. That may be before a new training block, outside the most demanding phase of competition, or when an athlete and coach need evidence to choose between competing priorities.

Re-testing can then show whether the intervention moved the quality it was intended to change. Used this way, testing supports the coaching process instead of becoming a one-off event.
